We are thrilled to celebrate Micregen’s very own Andrew Parnell, who successfully defended his PhD thesis at the University of Reading on 28th November. Andrew’s research, titled “Development of a clinically translatable allogenic umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell conditioned media”, was sponsored by Micregen and expertly supervised by Professor Ketan Patel.
What makes Andrew’s achievement even more remarkable is that he pursued this PhD part-time while excelling in his role as Laboratory Manager and Senior Research Scientist in Micregen’s R&D laboratory.
His thesis explored cutting-edge methodologies for producing a clinically compliant allogeneic stem cell secretome, addressing the intricacies of downstream manufacturing, regulatory considerations, and an in-depth assessment of biological efficacy.
A special thank you to Professors Maria Maiaru and Simon Eaton, who served as Andrew’s examiners and provided invaluable insights throughout the evaluation process.
We’re incredibly proud of Andrew and his contributions to advancing stem cell research – an inspiring example of dedication, innovation, and scientific excellence!
