This “translation gap” is one of the most persistent and costly problems in biotechnology today, and it’s the subject Micregen will be tackling head-on in Shanghai this September.

On 13th September, Robert Mitchell will join a roundtable discussion titled “Bridging the Translation Gap” at the Pujiang Innovation Forum, hosted by the Shanghai Synbio Innovation Centre (SSIC). The forum brings together researchers, industry leaders and policymakers from across the global synthetic biology and life sciences community to address exactly this challenge: how do we move faster and more reliably from early-stage innovation to real-world impact?

Why This Conversation Matters Now

Cell-free biology sits at an interesting inflection point in this story. Traditional cell-based systems have long dominated therapeutic development, but they come with well-known constraints – slow iteration cycles, complex manufacturing, and significant regulatory overhead. Cell-free platforms offer a different path: faster prototyping, simplified production, and a level of control that can meaningfully shorten the distance between concept and clinic.

That’s precisely the territory Micregen operates in, and it’s why a seat at this particular table matters.
